Stefanie Schäfer is a biologist at the Centre for Ecology & Hydrology in Wallingford, UK. Her research interests lies in the biology and ecology of arthropod vectors and the pathogens they transmit. Stefanie has studied the population structure, phylogeny and evolution of various parasites, tick-borne bacterial and viral pathogens. She has extensive experience in ecological field studies of tick, mosquito, and biting midge populations. This and her expertise in the morphological and molecular taxonomy of these vector groups has led to her involvement in the ecological research aspect of the KFD project.
